own it

I'm joining Christina once again this month for Own It!  You can see last month's post here .

Let's talk cards.  I white out the price on the back of cards that I send because I don't want people to know how much I spent on their card whether it was $1 or $10.  I also place  the card so that the picture is on towards when they open it (meaning depending on how thin that envelope is, people can totally see the price scanner through the front).  And one last thing about cards, I always tape my cards shut...I know that's weird too.

I don't do math.  I let Kyle do all of that math. Funniest thing is I'm great with numbers.  any number that has been assigned to me I've memorized (that's bank accounts, credit cards, driver's license, ssn, etc) along with Kyle's and Sophie's info as well.  But I cannot do math for the life of me, me and Mr. Calculator have a long standing affair.

I have a St. Christopher medal on my car keys, the same one my grandpa wore in World War II.  Even though I originally said in this post ,  I didn't have anything of his.  It was passed down to me from my mother.

I can drive a manual or automatic car interchangeably.  I learned on a stick shift so when it came to my driving test (for driver's ed) I struggled to pass the test because I kept expecting there to be a third pedal.  I think my instructor was ready to throw up at the end of it.

Many of my dresses are either shades of blue, shades of black, shades of grey (no, not 50 shades) shades of purple, and shades of green (usually emerald), I feel like other colors, pink, gold, red, orange, yellow are too loud for me and my skin tone.  And those colors usually match my jewelry.

I've shopped at Forever21 since I was 17....I'm a few years past 21 now...(#SAD), however I did score this from Forever21 the only shift dress that looks good on me.  I'm really in love with it.  I actually also wear dresses basically year-round.

On the rare chance I paint my nails, I never know what to pain them because of my ring color.  I usually stick to a soft green.  I'm also highly in love with my ring as well. (#shamelessringpic).

And to end with, I dance about as gracefully as Taylor Swift

    1. Thank you! It's my favorite color, purple of course. Kyle originally thought I wanted a diamond, but they're not for me. (they're so pretty, just not for me)

  4. I absolutely love getting to know more about you :) Funny that you mention that about the dress colors, because I totally think you could rock a pink dress of some shade. Such a pretty ring too!

Thanks for linking up with me and Penny each week Liz :)

  6. Nuh-uh you have a colored e-ring too?! Mine is an oval cut, natural Sapphire. Is yours a sapphire? Or Amethyst? I too tend to stick with the same shades of everything when it comes to my wardrobe. Sorry not sorry right? (; Why change something you love if it looks good?

    1. Yep :) I loved gemstones more than diamonds and they were cheaper for what we could afford. Mine is actually an iolite . Had I realized I could get a sapphire in the same color I think I would have done that, since iolite isn't as strong, it's a weaker stone.

  10. Hahaha Taylor Swift dancing is me too, for sure! Michael's good at dancing, so he's always dancing around and I refuse. At our couples shower we did a he said, she said game. One of the questions was what's the weirdest thing about your fiance. We both said each other's dancing...only I was offended because I knew he was making fun of me!!

    1. Me too! I majored in English and Classical studies in college, guess I loved reading.

RIGHT? You're coming up with a really good idea, I know they do that with a lot of books, but cards would be so much better to remove the price tag.

  14. Never thought of marking the cards prices off. Do people actually check out the prices?

    1. I actually love to look at the back to see where they get the card especially if I love it :) so I think if anyone is like me on that front they'll catch the price tag.

  16. Too funny that you white out the price but I always place the card like that too so it can be presented nicely!

    1. I know! To me it's just something I've always done and my family. I've talked to others about it and they think I'm weird for it.

  22. I love driving stick! All my cars for the past 15 years or so have been stick because I refuse to drive an automatic. It's just not as fun!

I also used to have a key chain from my grandfather. It actually broke a few years back and it made me so sad because I also don't have a lot from him. I still keep the remains of it just because.

Thanks for sharing at the #FridayFunday hop!

    1. Aww I'm sorry about the keychain :(
Yes I've been driving for nearly 10 years and both cars have been sticks, however for our next car it will probably be an automatic, Kyle prefers them more.

  24. I hate doing math as well. If you ever ask, "hey- what's 27 plus 18" and expect me to do it in my head.. nope. Cannot do it. My husband thinks this is hilarious.

    1. That's the thing, Kyle does it all in his head...like what's 30% of 55? I'm just no...just no.

  27. Hahaha! You and I dance similarly, girl. LOL. It's so tragic to watch. LOLOL.

Forget your nails, your ring is beautiful, Liz. :)

It's okay, I don't do math either - I completely gave up on math when I switched from French school to English in grade 11. Actually, all of us Frenchies damn near flunked the course altogether, so they bumped us all. #sad

  28. Ha! I have never thought to blank out the price of a card :) Girl I am right there with you on math. HATE IT!! To all those teachers who said we would never be walking around with an iPhone in our pocket...let me introduce you to the iPhone :)

  29. Ugh I suck at math. And I hate numbers so that makes it even worse. I wish I knew how to drive a stick! I unfortunately never learned and all the cool fast cars are stick!

  30. I want to paint my nails sometimes, but years of working retail got me in the habit of not doing it. I was guaranteed to chip the polish within two or three days, so I quit bothering.

  31. I like the dress you bought from Forever 21. I have a dress that's similar to that dress that I bought a few years ago at Old Navy. Have a great weekend!

  33. I also cannot pull off orange and yellow because they make me look like I have malaria.

My Own It: I am a nester. I like to sit and one place and have everything I could possibly need spread around me in a halo. It used to drive my mom nuts. Now it drives my husband nuts.
