i love you

I'm gonna let you in on a secret.  I just wrote this post after I received this from etsy:

Straight from the heart, no drafting and composing, just straight writing (typing).  So, sorry upfront if this post is kind of jumbled.

That's my grandpa's handwriting forever immortalized on a bracelet.  I was 12 when my grandpa died.  He was and will always be my hero.  He taught me how to fish, how to play softball and taught me how to swim, but most of all he taught me to never give up.  When he died I was angry, angry at him for getting sick, angry at him for forgetting me, but most of all angry at him for leaving me.  I was too young to truly understand what happened, but old enough to understand that he died.

It's been over a decade since he died and truth be told, it's really hard to remember what he sounds like or even what he looks like.  I didn't even have anything of his ← ( just realized I actually carry his St. Christopher medal from when he carried it during the war, so my previous statement was wrong ).  Then one weekend my mom gave me a box.  Inside was a good chunk of my past.  Graduation photos from kindergarten, cards for my 16th birthday, first communion, and then video footage she had taken.  But, it was the cards from my grandpa and the video footage that touched me.  It was so nice to hear his voice and to see his writing again.

You know I have a love affair with etsy right?  (Why is this even important?) Well this etsy shop sells personalized engraved bracelets and when I saw the cards from my grandpa it made perfect sense for me to have one of his cards engraved onto a bracelet.  I've always idolized my grandpa, he was the first man I ever loved, and the one that helped shape me to be the person I am today.  And honestly I don't know who I would have been without him.

probably could cool my bracelet game....

  12. Okay, your bracelet stack paired with your tattoo look PERFECT. Like seriously, wrist/arm game strong. But on a serious note, that is so sweet. It looks amazing. I will have to keep the shop in mind in case I want to get anything like this one day.

  27. Oh wow! I'm speechless! I just love this so much! My Grandpa passed away when I was 11. I miss him dearly. My Grandma {his wife} passed away a month after my wedding in 2009, which she was unfortunately to sick to attend. I've been thinking of doing something like this with my Grandma's handwriting for a while now. Such a precious keepsake!
