sundays with sophie

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I love Sundays.  Seriously, I love them. Love them .  More now than ever, because Kyle has the day off, so we get a whole day together. A whole day - which doesn't happen often because of how our schedules used to be.  But now that he doesn't work on Sunday anymore we get that day to ourselves.  And let me tell you, we enjoy the heck out of that day.

We start off our day by sleeping in, and by sleeping in I mean until little miss wakes up at around 7am.  Since Kyle works late on Saturday, I wake up, make her a bottle, change her diaper and then she promptly knocks back out for another two and half hours or so.  Now that she's sitting up - she wakes up and then plays with her toys quietly while sitting up (of course) and then after she's had enough of that she usually makes a loud noise to get both of us and then she laughs and smiles when we both go over and say good morning to her.

Sometimes she gets surprised and just falls over.  Like so.  We spent our morning letting her bounce in her bouncer, play with her toys and of course, after Kyle cleaned and carefully set up all of the bottles and everything she decided to do this:

That's babies for you.  But she's so adorable about it, that's the hard problem.  She gets into so much stuff, but she does it so cutely.  Kyle did have to pull the tray away from her because she could poke her eye out, but we let her play with the bottles for a bit longer until Kyle put them all together and placed her back onto the placemat.

We also decided that since Sunday is family day we could cook - above is our result.  And let me tell you this came out wonderfully. crockpot pizza casserole .  YUM!!  We went shopping got the ingredients (let me tell you, shopping with Kyle is always funny, because he tries to get in and out of the store very quickly, but with me and a baby - just not possible). We he then prepped and got all of the ingredients together, while I fed Sophie lunch.  And three and half hours later we ate.  Anyone who knows me, know, just knows that I'm not patient.  So it was really hard waiting that three and half hours to eat, It was actually three hours and thirteen minutes because I got that impatient.  Kyle mentioned after the fact it was probably good we didn't let it go the full three hours and thirty minutes because it tasted ready at the time we ate it.

And because I hadn't baked in a while - I had to bake.  I really started baking while I was pregnant and while I love baking, it's become a hassle some days.  I enjoy it, but what it's hard now is making the time for it.  I want to spend as much time with Sophie as I can.  But since my mom got us this handy dandy extra nice super awesome KitchenAid mixer - baking doesn't take as long because it does most of the work.  But I still have to plan out a time to bake where either Sophie's asleep (which doesn't happen) or when Kyle's home.  So that's why baking has kind of fallen to the wayside, however when I do bake, everyone enjoys it, co-workers, Kyle's friends, Kyle obviously, and his co-workers.

We ended our night on a happy note, little miss ate some carrots which she loved!  Much more than the peas we tried last week.  Probably not the best vegetable to start off with, but she picked it out in the store.  After carrots, little miss needed a serious bath - she had carrot stains all over her mouth, her onesie, hands, just everywhere.  And after a bath was bed time (our favorite time of the night, actually she hates bed time).

If I go to bed that means I can't sit up.  If I can't sit up that means I can't play, if I'm not playing then I'm not happy. Needless to say bed time is now a chore.  She wants to stay up and keep playing but she's obviously tired and needs to go to bed.  So hard being a baby.

sundays with sophie

I have to say this Sunday was the most special Sunday in Kyle's and I's relationship as parents.  Why?  It was the first weekend in a long time (technically the first) where we had a family day.  An actual family day.  A day where Kyle and I spent it as a family.  Yes lots of emphasis on it being a family day because we've never really had one with the opposite schedules and Sophie not really being aware of the things around her.  Sure we had them kinda when Kyle had the day off for holidays (i.e. the day I got engaged), but not a a regular day off, which we now have since he switched shifts with someone he works with.

Little miss has been eating actual baby food for about a month now.  We were told at her four month appointment we could start feeding her solids, but Kyle and I didn't really get our act together until she was about five months.  We still regularly feed her formula (why do we feed her formula? see here ), but she now eats solids, baby food, 2-3 times a day.  Yesterday she tried a brand new food - peas.  Not a big fan of it.  Not at all.  For the first time since we started feeding her, Kyle had to do all sorts of tricks to get her to eat it.  Pretty hilarious.  She kept thinking it would taste better each taste but then she finally just gave up and refused to eat anymore halfway through.  She certainly took some formula and then took a nap.

Kyle and I also had two sit down meals together - what a phenomenon!  Honestly it was so nice to sit down and have a meal with my husband and my daughter.  It's really the little things that matter to me most, the simple act of cooking with Kyle, and laughing and for once not having to worry about him heading off to work was so nice.  I can't really describe it.  We were able to stop every few moments play with Sophie (she was in her high chair) and then continue with cooking.  These two are my heart and soul.  My everything, I know I wasn't ready for a daughter when I found out I was pregnant, but I cannot imagine my life without these two either.
