In honor of it being a year since I started working at the bowling alley (I actually no longer work there, but I started on the 16th of February last year), I thought I would talk a bit more on how Kyle and I met. I’ve mentioned it a couple of times before, whether through posts or on a page, but I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about how Kyle and I met. No, not the going out and deciding that this was it. The actual meeting.
Yes, people who know us, know the story, but many people just know what has been said, not what we’ve said. Some people who are close to us know most of the story, but only Kyle and I know the entire story, and that’s how it should stay. But there are parts that you should know
The big synopsis of how we met: Kyle and I met at the bowling alley, the end. Kidding.
I actually met Kyle a few years before I ever decided on a whim to apply for a job at the bowling alley. How? I went there with an ex to go bowling, duh. The funny thing is, I
hate
bowling. I'm terrible at bowling, I'm lucky if I make it into the 50's range when bowling. But I digress.
I don’t remember meeting him the first time. But why would I? At the time I was in a relationship, and most likely had a million and one things going through my brain, so the
good looking, funny
, front desk man was the last person I noticed. He also wasn't my type at the time, the whole beard thing just didn't do it for me (funny to think when I met him again, that was the first thing I noticed). So I just grabbed the bowling shoes and that was that.
Cue 3 years later when we met again - he introduced himself as Kyle and said that he worked the front desk at night. I believe I responded with, "Oh, okay" I probably sounded like an asshat, but .I was instantly attracted to him, despite the fact that he
was not
my type, not at all.
It wasn't until after we started dating that he told me he remembered me all of the times I went to the bowling alley. He never knew my name, but he knew my face and my shoe size. That's right,
my shoe size
. Because I had such small feet, and he had to pull out the kid's shoe size for me to wear bowling shoes. If I remember correctly, one of the times that I went bowling I had to go up several times to get a new shoe since I didn't know which one would fit me. It was probably this moment that stands out so clearly in Kyle's head. Whatever it was, it was enough for him to immediately take a liking to me when I started working at the bowling alley.
