I've been a mother for almost two weeks., I've been pooped on, peed on, puked on, farted on, belched on, punched in the face, kicked in the stomach, but through all of that, I still love my daughter more than anything in the world. Because she's my daughter (and Kyle's). She's our daughter, the one person that changed our lives forever. We'll always be a mom and a dad to her, no matter what happens.
It seems just like yesterday I gave birth to her.
She's become the most important person in my world. She's left
footprints on my heart, and I know she has on Kyle's. She's his number
one girl and will always be his number one girl.
We can't imagine our lives without her now. Sure she is a handful, a big handful, but she's our handful. There are times that I do miss what life was like being a 22 year old girl without any care in the world, and not having to think about how my actions affected others and now all I think about is Sophie. She's my main priority now. There are days that Kyle and I wake up feeling like a zombie, where we just don't have any energy, but the smile she gets on her face, or when she looks at us with her big, gorgeous eyes, it doesn't matter in the fact that she kept us up all night, or the fact that she poops her diaper right after I've changed it. Or decided that after changing her outfit four times, that once more is perfectly fine. It's not easy being a parent, especially so young, but I've enjoyed the time as being a parent. Granted, it will be for life, but Sophie's captured my heart in her tiny little hand.
I know that no matter what I could never give up being a mother. I truly know what unconditional love means now. I'm willing to give up anything for her. It hasn't been easy, but by having her, I've grown up. I'm no longer the girl I was. I'm a mom now. It doesn't mean my life is stopping, but it's definitely changing. It will always be a changing thing now with Sophie in the picture. Every day with her is a gift. I enjoy spending time with her. Sophie is my girl. And I can't wait till she's older and we can be more interactive with each other. I spend more time talking to her about nonsense then actually conversing with her, because Sophie's not a big conversationalist yet. She certainly makes loud noises when sleeping and snores her head off like Kyle. It's uncanny how alike the two are. Sophie is our daughter, our pride and joy.
