The worst part of my day is not leaving Sophie when she's sleeping, but putting her down for the night. A big part of me feels like I'm not just saying goodnight, but goodbye to who she was. Each and everyday, she's gotten larger and has learned something new. And she seems like such a different baby from the day before. It's hard knowing that when I say good night to Sophie I'm saying goodbye to the previous person she was. A year ago Sophie was really just learning how to sit up. Now she's tearing the house apart. At one time she fit in my arms, now I'm breaking my back to pick her up.
It happened quickly and quietly. She went from being an newborn to an infant to toddler. How is it that 18 months have passed? That's 18 months of saying goodnight, but for me, only a fraction of that is good mornings. Each day with Sophie I learn something new about her, or she shows me something new she's learned. We're now into pulling up pants and putting socks on.
Where did my baby go? Each new stage we enter, we're saying goodbye to the previous one. For the most part once Sophie has found a new hobby, she's all about that, and not about her previous hobbies. Currently she's very into stealing and putting on mommy's underwear and shirts... and brushing her hair the wrong way.
Each stage is such a joy, but I also miss her previous stages as well, hence the six hundred million photos of her still in my phone. It's only a matter of time before she's in school (not ready to handle). She's so smart and aware, she watches everything we do and then mimics us to the tee. She loves to brush her teeth and do laundry, empty the dishwasher and throw trash away, take her toys out of the bin and vacuum. She laughs at her daddy's funny faces, and wants to be near us all of the time, she enjoys laptime with mommy and walks in her stroller. Everyday brings a new adventure and a new person. She's my daughter and no matter how many times she changes and grows, she'll always be my daughter. Although I'm struggling with the fact that we're halfway through 2015....
I 100% agree with this. Finley can go to bed in a really good state of mind and wake up in a horrible mood. Or one day he can learn loads and the next not bother to even move off the sofa! - Linked up from #TwinklyTuesday xx
Reply DeleteThanks for visiting Ashleigh, hope you come back and check since you're a no reply blogger. Sophie sometimes has grumpy days as well :( but for the most part she's a happy baby. They're just at the stage of learning.
DeleteShe is sooo adorable (at any age)! I love that she enjoys doing chores like vacuuming and and emptying the dishwasher. So funny! I wish I enjoyed those things...haha!
Reply DeleteEnjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more. Don't worry about what you are losing, each month brings new milestones to enjoy.
Reply DeleteHopefully she continues to love doing those chores! Every little bit helps!
Reply DeleteLife goes too too too fast. But sounds like you're recognizing that and staying in the moment which is the best thing :) Along with taking as many pictures as possible to remember everything by!
Reply DeleteLife moves way too fast! Cherish each stage!!

Awww, so sweet!!!! I feel the same way! I try to enjoy each phase as much as possible!! xo
Reply DeleteWhat an interesting thought, being a non mom right now I never would have thought of it that way. She is too adorable.
Reply DeleteOh I am completely with you on this - somehow in September, Zach will be three. I don't know how this happened, I don't know where the time went but I do know that the same as you, every day he is a little different. He knows something new or he does something we didn't know he could do. Time goes so fast and our babies suddenly become so big and so clever. Why do they have to grow so fast? Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
Reply DeleteI feel like time go twice as quickly with Sophie than it does normally. I can't believe she's over the year and half hump! I'm not ready to handle Sophie being 3! How do you handle it? Zachary is almost school age for kindergarten.
Deleteaww this made me tear up! i feel like my baby is growing too fast and i wish there was a way to slow down time! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
Reply DeleteI wish there was a way too! I guess that's what the pictures and videos are for, they help us remember the younger stages, but it would be nice to re-live some of the stages. Sometimes I miss them, but each new day brings a new fun adventure.
DeleteAww, I know exactly what you mean.
Reply DeleteSavour those moments and enjoy each stage. I used to have 100s of photos on my phone too because I just couldn't let go of the baby pics on hand.
Such lovely sentiments you've shared here.
Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).
Wishing you a lovely day.
