being a mother: to the new moms

Take as many pictures and videos you can, soak up every single second you can with them because babies don't keep.  They grow, they learn, and they become their own person.  But also remember that memories are just as good as photos, so make sure to spend as much time with your child as you do snapping photos of them.

They don't stay little forever, and pretty soon, gone are the days you change their diaper, rock them to sleep, and that they're little enough to be held in your arms.  Instead the days are replaced with soccer matches, track meets and high school dances.  The days are long, but the years are short.  Hold onto her tightly because soon enough, she'll be an adult.

Becoming a mother will probably one of the hardest jobs you'll ever have, but it is easily one of the most rewarding.  No matter what, the sleepless nights, countless diapers, toddler meltdowns, the teething days and nights; being a mother is rewarding, and worth the tears, the sleepless nights, it's worth everything.

everything.

She's still small enough to be carried and fit in our arms perfectly, but soon enough she'll find better things to do than cuddle with daddy or be carried by mommy, she'll want to play with her friends and play outside.  She'll find new things to do that aren't giving toys to mommy or daddy, or sitting in mommy's lap.  She won't need you as much as she did when she was little, of course you'll still be her mommy, but you'll be called mom.

Hold on tight, because in a blink of an eye, she'll be five.

But remember: you'll always be her mother (or father) no matter where she goes, who she becomes, or how old she is.

  7. Yes, this is so true. They grow up so fast! I have a 7 year old and my youngest turns 4 in a couple months. I'm still asking myself how the time went by as fast as it did.
